  • Nastia's very graceful, isn't she?

  • i agree completely

    she´s so graceful, awesome

  • i thought she did better in EF than AA, so I think she should get a higher score

  • i agree completely

  • @doglin82 I think she got the "Olympic AA champion bonus" in the AA though. I mean, she DEFINITELY should have won AA, but perhaps not by that much. (Five or five and a half tenths, wasn't it?) Yes, Shawn was still to go, but I think the judges pretty much crowned Nastia the queen before Shawn even took the floor. Shawn knew it too. You could see it on her face before she did floor.

  • @AsksOneThing she had a so high score on that event, and shawn knew it. You said everything

  • "It is horrendous when you think of gymnasts such as Boguinskaya, Dobre, "Pavlova, etc. "

Yes, she is hideous when you think of truly elegant gymnasts like the 3 you mentioned. Liukin learned the Soviet style of balletic lines from her Russian parents but she fails to perform it at a high caliber. And what's with these people rating down comments that simply disagree with them but are harmless? Geez.

Nastia's opening pass is extremely complex and difficult. Shawn would never be able to do it consistently, or at all. Her front full to rudi was whip around enough, and a front double twist requires quicker toes and has a blind landing to boot.

The technique required for Nastia's opening pass is much more than the technique requires for Shawn's.

  • @amclarke87

Gymnasts get points for dance skills AND tumbling. You HAVE to have both. It's not Nastia's fault that Shawn Johnson can't do a basic switch leap to save her life. Girl should have been working on her leaps too.

This whole artisticVpower gymnast thing started with MIOBI and it's absolutely fucking retarded. Each event requires both an elegance and power.

EG Bars must flow, but you have to get high in your releases.

You need BOTH, not one alone to win.

  • @FlicTuckFull I also take issue with the fact that Nastia's SV gets bumped up by her dance elements. Floor exercise is a power event. There is a performance aspect, obviously, but excellent tumbling and adequate dance (SJ) shouldn't have the same D-score as mediocre tumbling (less difficult, way more form breaks) and excellent dance. No matter how graceful she is, NL's dance got her an exorbitant amount of points. This isn't bars or beam. The power gymnasts have to have their place to shine too.

  • @FlicTuckFull I was referring to the way the code values twisting skills at the expense of (IMHO) harder flipping skills. For example, as you said for her first pass Nastia gets Front Full (C)+ Front Double (D) + 0.2 in connection value = 0.9. SJ gets 0.7 for her Double Double (G). That shouldn't happen. Double Double is a way harder skill. There's only a handful of people in the world who can even think of doing it. I can't say the same about Nastia's pass and yet she gets more points.

  • Every one needs to shut up about her being over scored. If anything shawn was!! Sure she has the tumbling, but her leaps shouldn't have even counted, seeing as I can do a switch ring and hit 180. It's pathetic if an Olympian can't even hit a split on a simple jump on beam. Nastia for sure some crossed legs but she has beauty and flexabilty, something this sport lacks. Nastia deserved silver. End of story.

  • in a way, she was overscored. i mean, she hit that floor routine, she was perfect, but we all know nastia crossed legs while twisting, and wide open legs in the double front.

to have a better execution score than Sandra Izbasa it's not that fair, Izabsa was too clean to be true.

  • Those splits are incredible. She should have won gold. All the other routines were boring and ugly.

  • @Missnewyork28

LOLWTF. No, dear, a triple was an 'E' for that code. Seriously, once again proving you really need to learn. I also credited Nastia's 2.5 as a 'D' so I really don't get what you're going on about there.

LOL at triple being an 'F.'

  • @FlicTuckFull The triple twist was an F under that code so you can add 0.1 to Sj and the 2.5 is a D so you can deduct 0.1 to NF.

  • @amclarke87

Oh, sorry I forgot SJs double twist.

Therefor SJ is 0.4 ahead of NL on tumbles. NL can make it up for her leaps/turns
