  • How do you think to prevent to make a new cosmos...if the big bang is a beginning of our knowing cosmos? Thanks.

  • @sasadusanic The LHC is not recreating the big bang, that is just media hype. It is exploring particle energies at the weak force unification scale. That does not sound so exciting but it is a better description.

  • @zettavolt sooo let me get this straight... it's breaking apart the strong force holding together the nucleus to see how subatomic particles react with each other, but it's not about gravity, it's about electromagnetism?

  • @artofnick , you are right that gravity is too weak to have any measurable effect between these particles. There are three forces that do come into play. the strong force, the weak force and electromagnetism. They use these forces to convert the energy in the collision into new particles such as the higgs boson, then they observe the particles created when these particles decay.

  • They'll most likely discover something, mayb not the higgs, maybe not any of those things..but they are making a huge effort to figure out all the answers ....and its not a waste of time.
