To suggest that anyone wants to put him on trial for trying to protect this country is an obfuscation and simply untrue. Anyone who wants to put members of that administration on trial, wants to wants to try them for violations committed against Our nation's Constitution, among other crimes. Compassion to our enemies causing this to go away: I'm afraid that's more, unproductive rhetoric. If we can't debate this factually, there probably isn't much of a point to debating it at all.

Once again; There has never been any proof offered that water boarding insurgents yielded credible intelligence. In fact, more than one former detainee investigator has stated and/or testified that better intel was gathered when interrogators followed the Army Field Manual than when the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld-sanctione­d methods were employed. Furthermore, it is illegal and a violation of the Constitution to torture people. BTW, Israel has suffered considerably more terrorist attacks than we.

The Israeli intelligence sevice is given full reign over their interogatins and they don't suffer any large scale terror attacks. Why? because their methods are effective and brutal. Plus Israel puts the safety of its citizens before the rights of the terrorist attacking them.

There have been a lot more detainees who've been determined to be innocent and released from Gitmo, than those who have been charged, let alone, convicted of anything. Many of the prisoners at that facility were held for years, without trial simply because they were turned over to US authorities, by tribal war lords. If that's not good enough, I can only reiterate that water boarding is torture and torture is a violation of our laws.

It's not like we grab random peple off the street and torture them. Not to mention we don't nearly go to their level. Have we beheaded anyoe yet? Have we blown up schools or hospitals? Do we use inocents as sheilds? This is an enemy that will sink to that level and some one has to go down to that level to get them. But if you don't think we should get our hands dirty lets just wait for the next 9/11

I am (now just as I was while on active duty) on the side of our nation's Constitution and I refuse to set any of my standards based on those of a pack of nut-job religious extremists. Torturing people is against the law and applying euphemisms to it does not change that fact.
