Simple Steps to Bring a Spirit of Renewal into Your Corner of the World

Spring is the season of renewal. The trees are blooming, the grass is growing and the days are sun-filled and longer than they are all year. It's a time when we emerge from our heated cocoons and breathe in some fresh air. So what can we do to make sure that we bring the freshness of the season into our homes and create inviting living spaces that we love to come home to?

Interior designer Taniya Nayak of HGTV's "Designed to Sell" is available to share with your viewers her simple suggestions for transforming their homes -- from clearing away the darkness of winter to bringing in the light and welcoming the spring. Some of Taniya's tips will include:

Space Clearing -- Cleaning our homes is more than just getting rid of the dirt. Clearing away old negative energy can allow fresh new energy to enter your home and revive your spirit. You don't need to throw everything away. Taniya will talk about the ways in which you can reuse and resuscitate some old things but also muster the courage to throw away some unneeded items you've been holding onto. She'll touch on the mental and spiritual fringe benefits of cleaning and even talk about finding new uses for old items.

Bringing The Outside In -- As spring is about all things fresh and new, Taniya will talk about fresh plants and flowers and how placing them strategically throughout the house can help invigorate the space. She'll also talk about how you can take advantage of the longer days, even if you are inside, by "letting the light in."

Bringing The Inside Out -- Taniya is an expert in making outdoor spaces more livable. She'll offer simple and effective ways to bring some of the comforts of the inside out and will show you how to decorate your patios, decks and backyards. Taniya will tell you how a few key pieces can reinvigorate a space and how you can create ambiance outdoors while still respecting the environment.

About the talent: Taniya Nayak serves as designer on the HGTV program Designed to Sell. She comes from a fun-loving, creative family from India. Growing up in Boston, she watched her talented architect father design exquisite homes, hotels and shopping malls, which sparked her interest in interior design. Besides hosting and designing on television, Nayak is president and founder of design firm Design Digs, where she adds a fresh, clean look to both commercial and residential spaces.
