i agree dat lara is one of the best batsmen ever but he was the mastermind behind the players strike in 1996-97'demanding better pay for WI players.....he was the captian then and he should have acted in a more responsible manner...dat incident set the tone for all the player strikes and disputes dat marred WI crkt....

cricket is not even popular in the caribbean AS IT USE TO BE , or atleast in my island ( trinidad ) , cricket had died , it still is there but hardly anyone is interested in it as our generation goes on

That day, I said to myself: This guy is something else. And this sentiment resonated within me as I saw him hold off a ferocious Australia in their own backyard with Mr. Walsh on the other end for company!
Sachin will always be my favourite.
But Lara? He was something else.. and he always will be.

I am an Indian and Sachin is my favourite. I have not seen much of Lara's batting. However, one day I saw him batting against Sri Lanka in their backyard. There was the whole west Indian team that found Muralidharan completely unplayable and then there was Lara, on the other end who was playing Murali like he was some ordinary county cricketer. Countless balls were being hit against the spin as batsmen continued to fall on the other end. Lara made more than 600 runs in that series of 3 tests.

Just Imagine if he had not been given "Thief Out" so many times what his average would have been. Thief Out means given out wrongfully and statics have shown that HRH Sir BCL was the Player given "Thief Out" the most number of times in International Cricket. Our Hero Forever.
