Victor must have used absolutely indestructible cloth for that horn. My 10-50 has the original covering and not even a loose thread on it. The stuff is so thin it's unbelievable it's not damaged after 80+ years.
how do you keep your cat from going for the speaker cloth on your Orthophonics? ours reached for the 8-30 the other day and snagged the material! about a decade back a neutered male of ours (now deceased) sprayed thru the crack with doors CLOSED and ruined the original 1927 cloth! but we still love our cats and our Orthophonic Victrolas!
So, leave the key under the mat. I want to visit your babies. I wouldn't do anything more than what I would do at an antiques gallery. I've come to realize they don't like it all that much when you start to pull the turntable off or lifting up the motorboard or opening the volume control doors in the antique malls. they come running up for assistance. Like I don't know what I'm doing. Pfft. 8)
Well, I think this 'swonderful! Enjoying the 10-50; I have an 8-30 (Orthophonic Credenza) and I play my Arden & Ohman, or Arden and Carroll rolls on the Ampico Reproducing pianos. Your music sounds great and there is still no "talking machine" to equal the Orthophonic.
Got one for sale right now on eBay! My user name is jjjarmentt714

All that's missing is a couple rolling up the rug and fox trotting across the floor.
