It is now emerging that the 12 nominated members of parliament would have each received some 8.3 million shillings through a curious allocation contained in finance minister Uhuru Kenyattas budget. The minister had apparently allocated 100 million shillings to the nominated MPs who in practice do not represent any constituencies or any public special interest groups. As Emmnauel Juma reports, without rules or regulations on spending the money would have ended up as pocket money for the nominated MPs.

We know that this issue will be swept under the carpet like any other issue in Kenya. When shall Kenyan people wake up and decide that they have had enough of corruption?

kenyatta is stealing money left and rigth. i think the governement has decided to loot as more money and properties as they can. billions of tax payers money lost every now then but you don't hear kibaki or odinga say a word. this started during kenyattas presidency and continued through moi and now kibaki. these people are aware that time is running out for them. they are watching how the media and the public are demanding accountability and they dont like it.

if they do not ban goverment officails from conducting business while in office, i won't see the point of enacting a new a new constitution. eg Uhuru Kenyatta. how can you run businesses while holding the government kitty. he can easily change policies to benefit his companies and those of his friends. try CMC
