The construction of Finlands fifth reactor, Olkiluto OL 3 (owned by TVO) started in 2005. It is going to be the biggest reactor in the world - 1.600 MW. Ordered for 3,2 billion € it has now costs escalating to reach 7 or more as well as severe construction safety problems.
In 2020 the loading of nuclear waste will start into the final repository - the first in the world.
"It is naíve to believe that the declaration Sweden (and Finland) made before joining the EU in 1994, about not accepting intermediate or final disposal of foreign nuclear waste on Swedish ground would have any value": professor of international law Per Cramér. If the country has got uranium resources and does not agree to mining, it has no right to get uranium from the supply within the EU: the message from EURATOM treaty.
