Alright.. the outside appearance isn't the ultimate way of judging people.. but sometimes I find my self in a possession which the only way i can judge is the outside appearance such as leading Salat in the case you gave, we can't make a competition to see who should be the Imam. I agree with you on this point that we should be humble however in Islam there is nth as looking religious because when a woman wear proper hijab or when a man grow a beard,they are not looking religious rather than responding to Allan's order and following sunnah.and we as Muslims,we are not ordered to judge people's intentions because only Allah knows what's in their hearts and He is the only one who judge them upon it,but we differentiates a Muslim from a non Muslim by the way they look
