Considering he was a member of the Halford band, where the bass really is on the back burner, he does know what to play and when. There is a time for pointless drivel and this is the time. He doesn't always play this stuff.

While wouldn't put it as strongly, This song and many of Ray's other stuff just seems to be lacking substance. He's an amazing bass player but the stuff that I've seen him do is too "bass-centric". I understand that we normally aren't in the spotlight but this kind of stuff is a bit ridiculus. Ray's stuff with Damien Erskine is awesome becasuse the music in it is apparent, you wouldn't have to be a bass player t o appreciate their chording and improv abilities. But this... I'm not so sure.
