My version of Cambodian Egg Rolls.

It's "Cambodian" cuz I say it is. Just kidding LOL.

Well, really, it's Cambodian because it has bean sprouts and red (Thai) basil in it. And the meat is NOT precooked before wrapping! (NO NEED TO PUT soy sauce in the egg roll guys!!!! Just because you put soy sauce in something does not make it any sort of Asian food!! LOL).

Seriously though....you may use any ground meat, though I have never tried ground beef before. There's always a first I guess. Adjust salt accordingly to your own taste.

Note: You may also substitute Thai basil for Italian (regular) basil if you can't locate an Asian store that sells any. I've tried it with regular Basil and it came out just fine.

Choose Sweet Chili sauce, or Chinese Sweet/Sour sauce for dipping. You can buy these in any Asian market or even a big-chain American supermarket like Stop&Shop/A&P/etc. (I make my own home-made sweet/sour sauce, but that's a family secret).

Basic Ingredients:
Cabbage, bean sprouts, vermicelli noodle (**I forgot the noodles!!!), carrots, scallion, a clove of garlic (optional), basil, salt, black pepper, ground meat of choice.

For those curious about the music, they are classics from the greatest singer(s) in Cambodian history. I put it in for nostalgic purposes and any Khmer out there who is watching will know the beauty and sadness of listening to this music.

  • @NSEddie978 ...TRUE TRUE...thank you. other countries should not be so offended. food is good no matter what country. I'm Cambodian so the rolls are Cambodian. I'm also American, so they can also be called American Egg Rolls, right?
