In this Video I go over how to Make A clipping Mask in Adobe Illustrator CS5. I Discuss what it can be used for as well as discuss all of the tools you can use with it. A Clipping Mask is a great Trick to use when you are trying to create Funky shapes for Designs that will be hard to get exact with the pen tool or another way in Illustrator. • PLEASE HELP ME!! i rly need to know how you could for example using the shapes and colors u used, to keep the green rectangle, and get rid of only the blue outside of the green. so it would be a green rectangle with a blue corner kinda.

  • Nice tutorial

  • Great tutorial.... You explain all the steps well - thanks

  • thanks for the tutorial

  • OMG yammer yammer yammer..... It's like why all of the dialogue? Like to hear yourself talk or what?

  • so you're left with a circle with a random green shape? might be useful to show how to get only the green shape and not the circle with it

  • @homy1493 ( press letter M key) to select the rectangle tool on your left toolbar. click and hold that. There is a sub menu. It's the second button down in that menu. Use the up and down arrow keys as you drag the shape to change the roundness. Hope that helps.

  • I am using Illustrator Cs5 and I've tried to make the contents inside a shape into a clipping mask but I sometimes would get an error message that says "Can't make clipping mask. The selection must contain more than one object" Id like to create blocks of detailed textures, over top of a blank line drawing.

  • I dont have the rounded rectangle so what should i do?

  • how do you color the outline shape without changing the inside shape color and stroke?
