The shelter is located in a garbage dump where scavengers barely survive by collecting and sorting garbage. Made of bamboo, an indigenous material, on a concrete base, it is a place of refuge from the afternoon heat or a sudden rainfall. The bamboo wall represents people collectively carrying the roof above, expressing the proverb --- where there is unity there is strength. It is a symbol of sustainability and hope.

  • the design is really beautiful. galing mo.pinoy na pinoy talaga. pero I just don't feel comfortable w/ your concept about the garbage dump. I feel offended. just my opinion. sorry

  • It's ok. there is actually no right or wrong in the world of design or art. It's very subjective, though there is an inherent philosophy which the maker (the artist) is trying to convey and sometimes misunderstood. Thank you for your comment.

  • very nice design! hope you win! were supporting you! \m/

  • @gonzalosraymundo Well, I guess 'right' or 'wrong' depends on whether your art is aimed at accomplishing something that is 'wrong', such as a shelter with the express purpose of killing all who enter. I reckon that would probably be deemed wrong by certain circles..

BUT, I do like the design. :P

  • Hey I like your design....unity is strength...cool.

  • love it great design,

  • Sir if I may ask, is this glorifing the dumpsite?

  • im sorry but that is just how i felt about it, you could enlighten me further kabayan if I have the wrong interpretation.. malakas yung potential ng concept,

you could have tried a shelter that can be portable, flexible and easily disassembled etc... well IMHo lang naman.. pero i really admire your efforts im not taking that away from you.. im proud you made it that far un the competition.

  • your shelter lacks context to its surroundings ie the dumpsite, what i get from this (IMHO) is a representation of architectural gymnastics insensitive to the social and envrionmental context, the triumph of greenwashing, pseudo sustainability...

  • However (pls. take this constructively) I honestly think your overall concept has a narrow dimension as compared to the other entries. Your concept of a shelter made of bamboo in a garbage dump site seem to "forced" in my opinion, like fitting a square in a round hole so to speak.

  • First of all congratulations! the form is very creative & the degree of modeling is meticulous.
