Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917)

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH HIM WHO STRENGTHENS ME." A tribute to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini), the first American citizen to be declared a saint. She was born on July 15, 1850 in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, Italy, the youngest of 13 children. She took religious vows in 1877, and in 1880 was one of the founders of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After immigrating to the USA in 1889, she soon founded an orphanage in West Park, New York. During her 28 years in America she worked with great love and dedication for the poor and needy, particularly the Italian immigrants. At a time when there were few resources and government programs for the poor, it is indeed amazing (and miraculous) that she founded a total of 67 institutions (hospitals, schools, and orphanages). She died in Chicago on December 22, 1917, was beatified on November 13, 1938, and was canonized by Pope Pius XII on July 7, 1946. She is the patron saint of immigrants and hospital administrators.

I had a dream about this saint w/o knowing her and when i saw her statue in a church , shocked me to see her and then i found out that her feast day is tha same date as my birthday!! nov. 13th!
