first test... want to create a stormy scene, with multiple waves crashing into the lighthouse.

lot of work to do:
* the fluid has to become more smooth, and get a finer resolution. and, of course, a more realistic shader -- not just a fast to render one ;-)
* it needs some foam. well, particles, in general. especially for the secondary effects, when the water hits the lighttower.

technical details:
* domain resolution = 200,
* end time = 15s,
* world-size = 6m,
* baked at roughly 35fps, rendered at 25fps.

stay tuned... ^^

  • Ya... the water is kind of lacking...

    But great job. You just need to raise the resolution, like, a lot.

    What're your specs?

  • @TheFXGuy : Intel Core2Duo E6300 and 2gigs of ram... Not enough for seriously raising the resolution ;)

    But thanks. Also for the other comments.

  • Very Nice.

    Did you use 2 different boxes of water off camera to create the waves?

    And ... what resolution was that water baked at?

    Again ... Nice work.

  • That was just one "fluid" cube for the first wave. The second wave was done with a key-framed animated cube set as an obstacle, to push the water towards the shore.

    Domain resolution was 200.

  • the water-material should be changed to transparent and translucent i guess, and don´t forget to activate smooth shading (makes a whole lotta things easyer)

  • @dr4ziw 200's a big rez number to bake at. The bake time must have been incredible. Dispite what TheFXGuy says (not sure he realizes how hard it is to get the water that good) I say the work you did here is incredible. Haven't seen fluid animation used this way before but good work.

  • @dr4ziw o lol, I guess not.

    If u still have an interest in this, I have a quadcore i7 with 8 gigs of RAM, so if u send me the file, I could raise the res. Or u can just wait til they can assign surfaces to particle fluids.

  • Great job!

  • Btw, select the water, got to edit tab, and click set smooth :D

  • i dont know if this will help, but the water that is stuck on the lighthouse ground,... in the obstacle settings there is 3 buttons

    Volume|Shell|Both

    to fix it sellect Both,

    hope it works
