  • For what it's worth, my steering just started to clunk again (Jan '12) So i got over a year and probably 10K miles out of this lubrication.

  • i have a black 04 GP GT1 with hand painted red brake calipers, black tinted windows and magnaflow slainless quad-exhaust tips(not mufflers) looks pretty good... looks like yours is a GT2(if its an 04') or just a GT(if its newer) but i could be wrong. I'm going off the steering wheel, and how mine has plastic inserts were it looks like yours are metal.

  • @btmatto

Mine's an 07... yours sounds like a nice car. This is my first (and last!) black car... that thing is a freaking oven in the summer!

  • ...oh this was on my 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo btw

  • I was having some intermittent clunking on low speed turns and pulling out of parking. Took my car to 2 different repair shops, and neither could diagnose the problem. Read about the ISS problem with GM cars...and did this after viewing the video. I drove around about 20 minutes after; made the sharpest of turns..whipped it around in a parking lot with the wheel turned all the way left and right. I noticed a BIG difference! Got white lithium grease from Advance Auto for $4. Thanks alot @elal757!

  • I sprayed mine till it over flowed. Still kinda pops any ideas

  • I was able to fix a steering wheel clicking noise on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt by spraying both the U-joint on the intermediate shaft and spraying grease inside a boot at the base of the shaft. There was no boot over the U-joint on this car. I know that Cobalts are known for power steering issues, but I think the dealer serviced it, according to the Carfax I got when I bought it. So far, spraying the grease has stopped the noise, but I could spray it again if the noise returns. Thanks.

  • A company named "Borgeson" makes a permanent fix for the cheezy intermediate shaft on the GM trucks ... it's 200 dollars and takes about 5 minutes as the video states and is a direct fit.

The Borgeson intermediate shaft is made with a needle bearing universal that will last longer than your car will ... do not waste time with GM ... they will offer you another shaft that needs comstant maintenance!

  • Thanks for the help. This worked great on my 2006 Malibu.

  • @elal757 I have the same 07 GP, these things do get hot.. I fixed that with a lower temp themostat

  • i tried this on my silverado, the problem is that the "hole" on mine isnt really a hole...there is no boot on mine so i tried sticking my wd40 straw down in there, but it would just bend but i just started shooting some in there anyways....started over flowing. :/ looked in with a flash light, no hole just a black piece of metal...i sprayed wd40 up in the column from under the hood though hope it works
