This video gives an impression of building and assembly of an Elecraft K3 transceiver. The making of ... #1255.
The K3 is state of the art in hamradio. Building is easy and straightforward. I enjoyed it very much. Now that I have been using it for a while I can say that the receiver shines when using de extra subrx KRX3 in diversity. There is also a video about assembling the KRX3.

  • How did you go with the alignment procedure?

  • @Sprekitek

The K3 needs no alignment, it is ready. The only alignment is in the VCO and the K3 does this by itself. So no equipment needed.

  • what an impressive job! Do you have to solder every component onto the board or is it a simple matter of just assembling main components?

  • It is a matter of just assembling the boards and the case. Takes about one day to do it. Lots of screws and nuts etc. Fun to do and it makes is easier for me if I have to modify something later.

  • Yes, it's all about using a philips screwdriver.

  • Quite interesting, it makes me feel like everybody can build one.

  • Yes, That is for sure! It is not difficult. Read the manual and just do it.

  • Nice video. Thanks for sharing it. I have a KX3 coming soon (one of the first orders). After watching this video, I wish I had ordered the kit and save a couple hundred bucks plus had the fun of assembly. I've built a number of Heathkit projects in my 47 years of hamming. Again, thanks.

  • why is it orange, not green or blue?

  • Nice job.73
