This year Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) celebrates its 30th anniversary. For three decades, CASA has worked to protect the basic needs and well-being of children and youth in foster care, one child at a time. CASA volunteers are assigned the most difficult cases by Family Court judges in all five boroughs. Since 1979, New Yorkers have volunteered their time and energy to these cases through CASA, working diligently to provide individualized attention to each child, and directly helping these children navigate an experience that could otherwise be traumatic, unpredictable and isolating.
More than ever, the children in New York Citys foster care system need CASAs—and your—help.
CASA is an efficiently run organization. Our expenses to help one child for one year are only $720. Last year, more than 80 cents of every dollar we raised was spent on services for foster children.
