The whole point of the Kamina/Simon thing is that Simon was always above Kamina. Kamina was all talk, it was Simon forcing him to move with his actions the whole time. One of the suplements even comfirms Kamina is one of the humans with the least spiral potential in the whole series.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Kamina, but he was the Obi Wan to Simon's Luke Skywalker. Simon surpassed him as he was meant to and it was such a glorious story ;v ;
