If you were him, making a show, you'd probably not want to keep putting yourself in truly life-threatening situation just to film your show. So, instead you SIMULATE scenarios so little chance of harm comes to you, but you can still educate your viewers.

ok this is some bullshit, if your inside a building and it caves in on you to the point your coverd by bits of the roof. YOUR DEAD, take it from someone who lived through that shit. under the sort of damage their trying to play out here. you at the best cast scenario wont be walking out of that building. and before anyone trys to call bullshit, I live in christchurch new zealand easten suburbs. we know earthquakes, we've had over 1800 aftershocks since 04/09/2010.
