Here is the old school sweep from the 10th planet jiu jitsu system. Please note that this video is taken from our class and not in the typical Sub 101 format.

  • Hmm, a lot of people dislike Ari because he allegedly attained his purple belt through false means, not skill based, but i gotta say, who really cares? Hes a great instructor, even if hes not the most skilled real world practitioner.

  • @sarge727 I got my purple from Eddie Bravo directly (no false means there). I then PUT ON the gi and started at white belt with Keith Owen and worked my way up one stripe at a time. I wish I was a world champ but alas, I am not. I love to teach and have others excel. Jiu Jitsu is a life long practice and I am sure enjoying the ride. Roll on my friend!

  • question about this move

why would the guy on top keep his leg so close , wouldn't he post it out further , thus making it harder to grab?

  • If they post their foot out, there is a move called the Plan B sweep. Look it up for your answer. ;-)

  • LOl where can i get a youtube or submissions101 patch for my gi lol. but seriously where?

  • I have them. Send me an email via our website and I'll tell you how to order.

  • Ari Bolden literally changed my life so people that hate on him really piss me off. I'm 18 and 120 lbs but because of his videos I don't take shit from people anymore. He is a better instructor than anyone here in Michigan and I can't even describe how grateful I am to this man and submissions101 in general.

  • would it not be better grabbing for the trouser leg of his gi?

  • This guy is a great instructor and I personally have at least thirty of his videos on my fave list. I been watching his techniques for at least three years. Keep up the good work and ignore the haters. Chances are you could tap 80% of them anyway. :)

  • I thank Ari and appreciate all of his help. I do dislike the lockdown as it puts a lot of stress on one's traning partners and is illegal in many tournaments. Any sweep suggestions without using the lockdown and also one without having an underhook? If you respond or not- thanks and keep doing the jits world proud!

  • why is it called old school?

  • i'll give it a try myself but i was wondering if you can do this sweep without lockdown? like if you just hooked his right leg with your left leg and drag it back like you are gonna come up to your knees?

i got to roll with a couple 10th planet guys from cali this year that rubber guard is a badabitch to deal with if you havent seen a lot of it and your opponent is GOOD at it.

  • @Submissions101

These videos are a huge asset to any rising Jiu-jutsu player, Ari, and I personally can't thank you enough for uploading all of these. I really can't overstate the benefit I have derived from them since I started in this sport.

  • What do you do if the duke puts out his left arm to protect from the sweep?

  • @Submissions101 Seriously, Ari. You're a class act responding like that. I have real respect for you bringing your humility and willingness to teach to BJJ. Alot of guys could learn from your sincerity.

Keep the vids coming! I'm learning every day.

  • @radauto1 cheers to that =)
