A Northern California high school pitcher is in a medically-induced coma after getting hit in the head by a line drive. The incident is re-igniting the call to ban metal bats in youth baseball. (March 17)

  • When a pitcher toes the rubber, he is accepting the potential danger that he could get clocked in the face by a line drive. It happened to me in Middle School ball and fractured my left sinus cavity and two spots on my nose. I continued to pitch throughout high school and college ball.

  • I do not think a wood bat or a metal bat would of made a difference in the ball hitting him in the head. He would of still got hit in the head.
