This is a light hearted song, made in jest, and a favorite at the Irish Roots Cafe. Friends will sometimes tease an engaged couple before the wedding, in anticipation of the grand event. It is all in good fun. Here they jest that the intended bride is old and rich, and the young man will drink up all her money. Surely, it ends up in a wedding where all live happily ever after !
This version of the song is sung by Mike O'Laughlin with Stevie Wilson Davis singing on the chorus. It can be found on the album "Irish Song: Traditional & Sean Nós". also available at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/michaelcolau...
