Ship Horns "send off" (Jim Carruthers "powerful honk rig")

This is good friend and fellow marine horn collector Jim Carruthers of Oregon. This is a demonstration of his powerfull ship horns on his rig. A nice send off to the Carnival Splendor. His rig has to be the most powerful set-up on the road!

This was filmed with a Sony TC-D5M Mini-DV camera, using an EV RE55 microphone, recording setting level was set to level "3" to prevent distortion. Distance of the microphone is approximately 30 feet. The horns are about 75 degrees relative to the microphone.

It sounds quite loud from 400ft away? From how many feet away could the sound hurt your ears? how many db is the horn?
