This is good friend and fellow marine horn collector Jim Carruthers of Oregon. This is a demonstration of his powerfull ship horns on his rig. A nice send off to the Carnival Splendor. His rig has to be the most powerful set-up on the road!

  • Damn what a sound! :D How far were you standing away from his truck? I guess about 400 ft?

Really, again, great sound! Nice echo too :D

And indeed, lol @ car horn at the end :P

  • This was filmed with a Sony TC-D5M Mini-DV camera, using an EV RE55 microphone, recording setting level was set to level "3" to prevent distortion. Distance of the microphone is approximately 30 feet. The horns are about 75 degrees relative to the microphone.

  • oops sorry, correction on that, you are correct the distance of the microphone tho the horns is at 400ft.

  • AMAZING!!!

My all time Fav!!! Thanks for sharing, I love it.

    Great sounding horns.

It's cool that Splendor replied to him. The crowd's cheers are funny too.

  • The port director came over to Jim and told him that people really love his "send offs"

  • This is giving me goosebums!!! OMG!!! The first honk is insane! Awsome tune! I will soon put a leslie 300dve on my camper bus but now i am considering to use two instead of a single!

  • shut up ship... you just got owned by a car.

  • God his (Jim's) have an awesome tune to them.........eerie, with a hit down the spine to top it off. Love the sound.

  • @LogWiz absolutely :)

  • A wonderful effort. And I loved the interaction with the ship. Could you perhaps run the captioning below the horn images instead of over the top of them so we could all appreciate your work? I'd love to see more detail.

  • It sounds quite loud from 400ft away? From how many feet away could the sound hurt your ears? how many db is the horn?
