This is an edit of Race 2 from the Ma5da Racing Championship onboard with Malcolm Edeson (http://www.driver-coaching.com) in the Keystone Rental Drive Car 0.

The video system is the as yet unreleased VIDEO4 system from Race Technology.

The Ma5da series provides great low-cost close racing in RWD Mk1 Mazda MX5 (Miata in the USA).. This is the only one of the three races I finished as race 1 ended in a grid/start line crash (retired) and race 3 also ended up in a crash when I could not avoid a car that had spun at the Jim Clark Esses.

Both crash vids are also on Youtube, interesting to see which gets the most views, the good, clean, fast and close racing or the crashes?

  • What fantastic racing. Thank you for the upload. Video telemetry looks great!

  • @xenolard - Thanks, we've moved on quite a bit since then and I have a driver doing every round of the MX5 Championship this season, some great racing. Take a look at some of my more recent videos.

  • man those mx5's look like fun. theres no way I'd be able to throw my mr2 around like that and maintain control. good stuff

  • Yea, being front engine, rear wheel drive the mx5s have a great balance. The MR2 has a nasty habit of slapping you round the face if you get it too sideways. The MR2 series race cars are much better with the trackday rubber though (888s), stlll can bite yer bum but the power to grip balance is now more even,.

  • Having ctashed in race 1 and race 3 here is the one race I managed to finish although was VERY CLOSE at 1:34

  • How do these miatas hold up to this kind of racing (not counting crashes)? What kind of money does it take to run a car for a season? Do you have sponsors?

  • @MaxxUK I will - thanks. I'm going to buy an MX5 in the next few weeks hopefully. I can't belive how good the racing is. Up there with BTCC ;)

  • Great onboard!!, the Miata looks like a very fun car to drive, sweet, cool. :)

    Thanks for the upload.

  • That close shave... sorry about that...
