Just what is a required routine check? I have never had police knock at my door and ask to do one. If they did I'd have to tell them to go to hell in no uncertian terms! If they want inside my house and I didn't want them there, get a warrent!

@highway955
The Cop in the Prof Gates case had reasonable suspicion and therefore a warrent was NOT required. The Cops when they see someone (even if it's the real owner) breaking and entering, they have the right to ask for ID and have it presented.
The cops were acting within the constitution.

BTW, Pres. Obama should have kept out of the situation.

if they wanted too come-in bad enuff, They damn sure will, BUT NEVER STEP OUT! talk thru door / locked-door - they can only get in is if YOU let them, or "Grant their request"- which you have the "right" too say NO.

you speak thru the door / Loud enough to DENY Entry without some-kind of paper. PERIOD. ends there, but DO NOT COME OUT" VERY IMPORTANT"-stay in Home and talk LOUDLY / or behind home door, you must stay "inside"-NEVER-OUTSIDE-never, i seen it happen. If Carl would`ve run into his house. they could`nt give-chase. But he remained out & too jail. The cops even said" You almost made it"- meanning "IN-THE-HOUSE"...talk thru door. Trust a guy like me who had this happen too him and saw on others. mw

Yes, because the level of someones spelling and grammar abilities shows their intelligence/work ethic. I would never higher you for upper management. I wouldn't even hire you for the position that the gentleman who hands me towels in the bath room has..
