AWESOME ! - So loud !! Wish I coulda been there !!
Rock-n-Roll is a direct descendant of this style of music

I've written to Drummerworld about this oversight---Rufus was a GREAT drummer and a GREAT human being.

Rufus Speedy Jones!!!
He played for years with Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Maynard Fergusson and was one of the fastest drummers alive at the time... yet hasn't even got a wikipedia page or a mention on Drummerworld ^_^

@peppersax sorry, "wasn't"

@luvmyrecords I'm sure at one time or another, Lockjaw and Coltrane 'jammed' together. Too bad THAT was recorded.
-
@peppersax I can't remember the two musicians who had the conversation (meaning, I'm too lazy to look it up), but it went like this: "Man, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis scares me." "Man, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis is SUPPOSED to scare you!"

Its a brilliant tune!. Actually its from a 1966 concert in London.. and the concert is recorded

Classic long fingers like Coltrane and Stanley Turrentine. I wouldn't even profess to playing the saxophone if I met him:) Monster of a horn player!

WOW!
Superb. Rufus Jones never got the recognition he really deserved. He was right up there with the rest of the big boys.

Jordison is a hack compared to any decent jazz drummer.
