@CapitanoGUC The Soyuz has been modernised many times since the sixties, including adding advanced computers, etc, etc. It has also been made in a larger version with a fourth stage to launch geostationary sattelites, and interplanetary missions.
The shuttle is not hypermodern either. The design was conceived in the late sixties, and it is many years since the first one was launched.
@adlerzwei there has been a few crashes and failures, however, far less than ANY other launch-vehicle. This is what ESA has to say about it: "the Soyuz launch vehicle is the most frequently used and most reliable launch vehicle in the world".
"It has become the world's most used space launcher, flying over 1700 times, far more than any other rocket. It is a very old basic design, but is notable for low cost and very high reliability, both of which appeal to commercial clients."
as far as i know, the old fashioned Sojus with an 30 year old electrical system instead of an electronic computer system, never crasched ..... unlike the hypermodern space shutle ...:-D
