"Gloria in Excelsis Deo" (Latin for "Glory to God in the highest") is the hymn of Great Praise to God used in the Catholic Mass and Divine Services of the Anglcan and Episcopal Church and many other Christian churches. The text of the song brings to mind the words said by the angels as part of the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in the field. Luke 2:14.
