A sad farewell to Woolworths - clocking out at least for now after 99 years on 5 January 2009. The film features pictures of the original F. W. Woolworth & Co. Ltd. 3D and 6D Stores in Church Street, Liverpool in November 1909 and many pictures and video clips of the stores and people down the years as well as the CEO, Wooly and Worth and a Grandfather's Clock. If you love Woolies, this one may make you cry. The filmmaker (one of the fallen) makes a cameo appearance, if you can spot him.

  • Yes but all us staff lost our jobs! You should have some consideration before moaning about 40 quid. Insensitive!

  • I AGREE. I FEEL LIKE CRYING. ITALY NEVER HAD A STORE LIKE IT AND NEVER WILL!!! This is the store I missed most when I left for Italy. We must step in and SAVE the British 'High Street' shops.

  • I remember going to Woolworths as a kid with my grandmother and eating at the Kitchenettes in the stores. The fries were tops and the chicken salad sandwiches. The decor was true 60ish and I received my first real drum set from there.it was smaller for a kid of say 10 to 12 yrs old but a real set nevertheless. Now over 40 plus years I still play drums and other stuff too. Thanks Woolworths for such great memories. Why does evil have to take away all that was sacred to us fro the 60's?one word GREED!

  • The Woolworths website is fake, the only thing it has to do with Woolworths is the name, and £2 per 100g of sweets!!!! WHAT, it was 52p back in the days of the real woolworths. I sound like an old person but this was not that long ago, so please do not support the fake Woolworths.

  • The last Woolworth's store in the USA closed forever in 1997. The company exists solely as the Foot Locker chain of shoe stores. I miss the stores, the selections, and especially the lunch counters.

  • I live in London, Ontario, Canada. Our Woolworth's stores went out of business in 1984 or 1985. Many of us here who never get across the pond, still miss it. Don't know where I was last Christmas to not hear about the chain closing there.

  • I worked for woolies for many years and miss it like mad - it was a big part of my life and always will be - no other store like it.

  • @jaker292 why did you lose your job
