We ride a rather unique Westinghouse Traction Elevator at the Boston Public Library, Boston, Massachusetts.
I had to hold the camera up high, or the floor counter would saturate out amongst the surroundings.
The ride was nice and smooth, and you can see your progress through the doors, so the second flight was looking out.

  • How many librarys r there in Boston? When I went, I only found found 2 Montgomery elevators. I thought the main Library was the one in Copley Plaza.

  • @elevatortimes

There's a few branches, but this is the main Copley Place one.

  • @georgef551 So that one is another branch then.

  • @elevatortimes

The main building in Coply Place doesn't have Monties, so if you cound some, it had to be another location.

  • @Balarick

    I just recorded them.

There's an 1895 Otis that you truly need to get!

  • @georgef551 next time i visit Boston i will film that elevator. it's a good fit for a library. who do i ask to film them?

I just use the index and thumb for force, so even in idle mode, a small pry is all I get.

  • Careful when parting the doors like you did in 2:10 while going up and again while going down. Twice when I did that the doors opened while the car was moving. The first time I thought I was stuck but once the doors closed, the car resumed. It could happen unexpectedly and you might fall against the shaft wall and hurt yourself. That did not happen to me but the potential is there. It funny that there are people who do these little odd things I have done in my childhood days.

Not that I could tell the difference anyway...

    Thanks for the info.

  • @georgef551 The Johnson building is attached to the original building.
