I think this is a pretty important thing to mention in a video for people who may need a nice high quality pen for their career.

  • Hey man I have a Fisher space pen too, (it may be a different kind, its silver metal, and it has a different texture, but its still a Fisher space pen) and when I tried this it didn't do this, maybe you are applying too much pressure, or its just I have a different kind?

  • @Xzynorqui interesting. You have the same pen as I do, only difference being the color. I may need to buy one of those to try the same thing with as I kind of want a silver one anyway ;)

  • Most other ballpoints I've used have this similar issue. Have owned and used various Fisher Space Pens since 1989. Used them in every environment from the classroom to the office, while hunting biggame, and in the cockpit of a various aircraft. Never seemed to be much of an issue for me. Few people these days use a pen for much more than signing their name or jotting down quick notes. No other ballpoint cartridge except a Fisher will write in cold freezing wet weather. Fisher beats them all..

  • Or better yet did you think to simply replace the ink cartage and see if that was the problem?

  • Guess what buddy, that smearing and extra ink on the tip is not a problem with Fisher pens. I have had 31 of them only 1 did that. The problem is you have a loose ball. The tip was not machined correctly. This does not happen with all Fisher pens as they precisely machine the tips to not do that since they are pressurized. Fisher pens have a unconditional lifetime warranty. Call them up and tell them your problem. Guaranteed they will send you a replacement pen right away like they did for me.

  • A Parker Ballpoint Refill WILL NOT fit into a Fisher Space Pen Body!

Space pen refills are much Thinner and shorter than a Parker. A Space pen Refill WILL fit into a standard parker pen (or any other pen body that uses "Parker Style" Refills when fitted with the plastic adapter that comes with the Space pen Refills.

The ink "globbling" described here is less of / not an issue with Fine point Refills but I personally have seen this problem with a few Medium or Bold point Space pen refills.

  • A parker ballpen cartridge may fit into the base of the space pen, but the top will not screw down as the parker ballpen cartridge has a slight gradient to it which is thicker by 1 or 2 mm than the actual space pen refil which is perfectly straight. Also the parker cartridge is bigger than a space pen cartridge. However a space pen cartridge with the adapter does fit into all parker ballpens, which is a nice thing.

  • Your left thumb! Unique looking, like a cartoon character. I like :P
