The thing I find the most amusing is that people are still so irritated and polarized about it; have none of you heard of Andy Kaufman? This isn't the first time a professional troll has staged something on Letterman. Anyone still bent out of shape over it is just a sore loser. It's meant to jar you and get your emotions going. That's not always a bad thing.

wait the documentry was fake? i thought he was pretty crazy blowing coke and being completely insane. i belived it and i felt so bad for him hear because he was absolutely parinoid and strung out that must feel horrorable i bet fame could drive any one to that point defently when theres drugs involved so was it fake?

@MultiNational3Fish Yes, because mocking a man who would go into an interview unprepared and completely derail another man's show because he is "potentially mentally disturbed" is just WRONG, right? Dave should've been respectful and polite, allowing Joaquin to make him look like a total idiot. I mean, because it was totally cool and nice to use another man's fame and TV show to get yourself media attention for some dumb fake documentary. Ugh. Think for a minute, please?

Yeah I heard it was all a hoax.....this is why I don't put much care or energy into what is put in the media most of it is jus BS
-
Dave even noticed he was looking upset and complimented him on his acting and how he was sad to see him leaving acting....dave has always joked around with people because that's his JOB, lighten up people

@SiLlyGoOse4321 It was a hoax...jaoquin said that himself haha, but he was technically "in character" i give you that
-
@missmonet17 did you realize this was all fake?

Guys, this is Joaquin basically in character. It's not really a joke or a hoax, more of a performance piece lol. Letterman apparently didn't know that it was a joke and tried to save the piece by cracking jokes and cutting through the awkwardness. This all lead up to a film called I'm Still Here and it was nothing more than...a performance. Letterman was not wrong, Joaquin was not wrong...it's just something done to cut through the ordinary and mundane that is life. Thank you lol.

I don't think Letterman's that much of a jerk, i mean he was trying to make it funny and less awkward. what's he supposed to do when Joaquin comes on and acts like a crazy drug addict??Letterman does COMEDY, learn what that is! He wasn't mean to him! He was even complimenting him.

@missmonet17 its all just a hoax for JP's movie "Im still here"... he doesnt have an addiction this was just a ruse...

Letterman admitted that he had no idea that it was a set up, so considering how he behaved toward potentially mentally disturbed man during the interview makes him a giant douche. Now that Phoenix came clean, Letterman is lucky not to look so bad anymore, but he's still an ass.
