Led by vets, military families, union members, and students, 45,000 people from throughout New York City, New York State and northern New Jersey, marched despite the rain to make their call to bring the troops home now and for no war on Iran heard loud and clear through the streets of Manhattan.

The march was part of a National Day of Action Against the Iraq War, initiated by United for Peace and Justice, the largest grassroots anti-war coalition in the U.S. Ten other regional demonstrations were held in Boston, Chicago, Jonesborough, Tenn., Los Angeles, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.
