This is simply the Star Trek main theme. This is different from any other of the Star Trek scores because this is the only score that doesn't feature the original opening fanfare that Alexander Courage created. In the subsequent films it would wildly be used and Goldsmith would eventually adopt the fanfare into his scores for future Star Trek projects.

This theme has taken a life all its own. It's probably more identifiable with the franchise than any other theme created, and that includes the original theme. Is it the best? Well, that's debatable since many could bring a strong argument for Horner's sweeping theme, but this theme by Jerry Goldsmith is probably the most memorable, and it's hard to imagine Star Trek with out this piece of music that Jerry Goldsmith created.

  • @Tizmaole 9/11 happened on Sept 11, 2001 not January 28, 1986

  • @kd4adv They did: ST4 was released the same year, and included a mention of them before the credits rolled.

  • @Deadq they made the wrong choice
