Former AMW Tchad L1011 Tristar 100, registration TT-DWE, at the Emirates National Auto Museum near Abu Dhabi, UAE. This aircraft was delivered new to British Airways in 1974 and served the airline until it was transferred to British Airways' charter division, Caledonian Airways in 1990. It was leased to Aer Lingus from 1996 to 1997. When JMC Air was formed through a merger of Caledonian Airways & Flying Colours in 1999, the TriStars were retired.

This aircraft later operated as 3C-QRL with Ducor World Airlines, A8-AAB with International Air Services - during which time it was also leased to Georgian Cargo Airlines - and finally TT-DWE with AMW Tchad.

  • Theyve broken her up...well, taken the engines off at least and dumped her in the desert.

Can you actually sponsor an aircraft?? Cos i flew on this aircraft 12 times from Gatwick to Lanzarote...on this exact plane....its my personal favourite airliner...i'd hate to see it destroyed!!

  • Don't worry - this place is actually a museum. Apparently this aircraft is to become a restaurant. It is owned by a very rich man who I'm sure will want to see it kept in pristine condition when the work has been done!

  • @CaledonianMy I thought that was a Caledonian aircraft. Prefer the Tristar to the DC10 any day.

  • Spinning like a turbine in the desert wind....what an inglorious ending to a fine bird

  • WE!!!! I used to fly as cabin crew on it. According to my log I did my first Orlando and the second trip was to Dalaman.

  • I used to fly on this wonderful aircraft as Cabin Crew for 10 years when it was part of Caledonian Airways I know her well!.

  • Hi @flymajj

Just wondering is she still there now?

Also - What kind of shape id the aircraft in now?

Also - When you filmed it - did it have seat's inside?

I'm really interested in this aircraft and trying to gather information on it - both TT-DWE and TT-DWA

    Thank you - Carl
