    No the ghonnela (which is what it's called - pronounced awnella), once a dress of status, made out of whale bone, silk and satin, has not been actively worn since the late 50's early 60's, and was even then a rare sight limited to those of an older generation.

    A bit of furthur information - rather than the European style white dress, this is what women used to wear on their wedding day in the 19th century.
