@charpentierjp1 Yeah, I know what you mean, there's no problem whatsoever with having a preference and I wasn't questioning your preference. I was just confused about the other message but it's all cleared up now and yes I'd have them in my band too. By the way, since my original comment, I have listened to loads of McCartney's stuff and I do regard him a lot higher than I did then, Gilmour's still my favourite though!:)

@xPORTERLOOx In essence, no, I guess it's not a reason for my preference of Paul over Dave. I suppose that is just a preference that I can't explain. But all in all, I'm trying not to be critical of Dave because he is a great guitarist and a great musician in general. At the end of the day, they can both be in my band if they want in lol

Pink Floyd is easily its own genre, so it's like, say, Dave Mustane leaving metal for pop-country. He could do it and do it well, but he wouldn't be comfortable in his own skin and it would be obvious. Paul, George, John, and even Ringo did well without the Beatles because their individualism dictated that. Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters, though semi-successful separate from Floyd, haven't been able to comfortably leave that state of mind.

@charpentierjp1 No offence but I don't really get your point, you're saying the Beatles were a three talents coming into one but Pink Floyd are one talent? Surely that's complementing them?
-
I have to disagree. They both have their musical feats, but Paul hasn't let the comfort of his genre hold him back like Dave has. But that's the thing... The Beatles were three talents coming into one (John's lyrical genius, Paul's rhythm and composition genius, and George's melody genius)... Pink Floyd was just, I don't know... one? There was no breaking Pink Floyd up. "Til death do us part" sort of thing, brah...... of course that's not to say Dave doesn't exhibit some fine blues, here!
Crazy two of my favorite musicians in the whole world together at the same time...
its awesome!!!!!
