Oh I played this game and passed it a long time ago. Very good game. And the voices you added sound great. I wish they would remake this game. Or make it into a movie }:]

You're in luck, then: I didn't add those voices. There's an open source port of Star Control 2 for modern systems: search for "Ur-Quan Masters." It looks and handles the same, but it now has a star search function and online SuperMelee. Also, 3DO features such as voice acting, but you really should turn that off when you meet the Utwig.

You may feel that it's a cop-out that UQM is just SC2, but honestly, what would we expect from a remake but more of the same?

Played this game so loooong time ago, what a flashback. :-) I'm unsure whether I like the voice-overs or not. Some are really nicely acted (Orz "Hello extremely!" cracked me up), but I'd imagine some would break the overall atmosphere for me.

Mycon, for example, had so awe-inspiring and fantastic theme music, and the voice-over ruins the mood it sets.

Guess I'll have to find the remake and play it through again now to see how I feel about the voice-overs after completing it. :-)

Glad to have caused it. :-) A tip, though: turn the voice-overs off before you meet the Utwig. That was a miss.

Mycon speech is much more enjoyable in-game, where you're free to take a break in the conversation to appreciate the music. I do appreciate the Mycon voice: it seems to capture their mentality, no small feat for obsessive psychotic hot fungoid mechanisms. The Creators' voice really feels powerful and different (from obsessive psychotic hot fungoid mechanisms, which is no small feat.)

Oh, man, awesome voice acting except for the human starbase captain. That one was pretty bad :( and he is one of the most influential characters in the game. Damn.
