This is the 2nd movement of Sibelius's Violin Concerto.

I was lucky enough to catch this on a foreign channel several years ago.

  • Granted, Hilary Hahn is one of the most gifted violinists of her generation. Precocious gift, too. But what is truly remarkable about this version is that she plays the correct rhythm in the middle section!!! This is worth listening to.

  • Well Hilary Hahn is 15 years old here...

Yes, 15 years old. Most young girls at that age struggle with school and their homework. And of course wants to meet boys and party.... Nothing wrong with that.

Hilary Hahn is only 15 years old -and is performing one of the most demanding pieces written for the violin ever!

And she does it in wonderful style! It is a truly great performance!

    BRAVO!!

Critics of her performance should get their best work on youtube! I know it would "make my day"!

  • my favorite interpretation remains Itzhak Perlman's (with a boston symphony orchestra recording from the 70's) - but this sure comes close.
