@FischerFan OMG, I remember that game, I was there too. Awesome game the way Winnipeg fought back after a 4-0 score. Those Czechs were damn good players.
Well, in case you havent been watching, the KHL is stealing a lot of the Russian and European players back to USSR. IMO, that's fine because I like the NHL better when it was more Canadian/French/ USA players. Hopefully someday there will be a KHL/NHL game played. I think that there is a lot of confusions on the dates here. I thought that this game happened in January of 1976? And BTW if it did happen in 1978, its wrong because the New England Whalers of the WHA beat the Russians the year before
1972 Summit Series! Who won? The NHL is the best league in the world. How would things turn out if they had to play an 82 game schedule and then go through the grind of the playoffs. The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all sports. When i see more Russians coming over and captaining some of these teams to win that trophy, I'll be impressed. Not these individual exhibition games using their top players. Now the NHL excluded. Still, how many Medals does Canada have in hockey?
They may have called them 'The Czechoslovakian National Team' in North America, but it was still a club team called Poldi Kladno (if we are talking about the game played in December 12, 1976). Check out Arthur Chidlovski's "Summit series 1974" site for information. I'm pretty sure about this.

The acquistion of Hedberg and Nilsson provided Hull with some players who would
really skate, instead of the typical "dump it in the corner" NHL player. Thus, this
Winnipeg team was quite different than most from North America.

the Broad Street Bullies beating the Red Army team was better
