@st176 Penalties for heroin in the world vary. The reason heroin is prohibited are due to the UN conventions on drugs. In some countries, heroin use is completely decriminalised, such as Portugal. Use of heroin is lower per head of population in Portugal than most in places in the world. Other countries like Switzerland and Canada, prescribe (deal) heroin to addicts. This has been very successful. far more sucessful in dealing with the problems surrounding heroin addiction and dealing.

@st176 Sure. They're legal because, a) They provide money in taxes for governments and b) They're peoples drug of choice, it has nothing to do with how harmful they are. There are very few countries in the world where you receive punishment for using alcohol or tobbaco. Why do you have the right to use those two dangerous drugs and not have the right to use safer drugs? That's unfair. Drugs should be regulated and controlled based upon the harm they cause.
