Funny you post this. Mine started doing it most noticeably during L.A. Noire. I think i notice it more in that game obviously because of all the quiet moments. I thought it was just my system but seems it's a common thing.

I think it's normal my ps3 makes sometimes also a strange noise but i did not have any problem with it. (And i think your ps3 is just loading things from your game). Have Fun Gaming Dude :D:D:D

yes it does, but i dont notice it anymore, because i always use headphones when playing

Ok. It's not loud or anything, you won't hear it if you have your TV volume up, but I was just wondering if it was normal or if it was a problem. Thanks for the reply.

@vincenzo0069 It's the sound of the laser moving back and forth to read the data. It's perfectly normal. The cd drive in your computer also makes this noise if you pay enough attention.

It does this when loading far amounts of game data....also it seems to make this when loading the ps3 menu after hitting the ps3 button on controller sometimes!!!! Have fun with your ps3
