  • HOLY SMOKES! THAT VERSION IS FAST! Krysanova did amazing!! Wonderful!! I definitely wasn't able to keep up with our version, let alone this one. Amazing!! :)

  • @avesraggiana Yes, Margarita Kulik is the best 1st Shade I've ever seen. Perharps I should have specified: to me, Krysanova is one of the best I've seen in the last years (I've seen a lot of recent live and filmed performances of La Bayadère where this solo was usually mess), but Kulik remains my absolute favorite. She is THE 1st Shade.

  • she does a great job with the fsat music and those grande jetes in the middle

  • @theamazingsoter Have you seen this variation with Margarita Kulik (Maryinsky @ 1980s)? Krysanova is wonderful here of course and so is Margarita Kulik. Krysanova’s body type - thin and willowy - better fits the wraith-like image of a shade than Kulik but they’re both very strong in this. The cameraman should be shot for not pulling back and allowing us to see how much Krysanova travels in that last diagonal of forward hops en pointe.

  • @palubob You are completely right. Smiles are out of place in the Kingdom of Shades. But for some reason, only the Mariinsky and a few dancers from the Bolshoi and Paris I have seen portray the Shades like you explained. Maybe they misinterpret Minkus' lively music? I also agree with your comment about Krysanova - she's one of the best 1st Shades I have seen!

  • @palubob

yes she is a beautiful dancer and I do not wish to start an argument. but you could at least treat me like I know a little about the ballet. I fact I know a lot about this ballet and I know the Shades are dead .but if they are blessed with inner peace then surely some of them may be happy.

thank you for your comment but I wasn't criticising anybody or arguing with anyone, I was merely expressing my personal opinion.

  • @1497mari. For some major companies, e.g. Mariinsky, the entire Shades act is a non-smiling event, as IMO it should be. Although they all are dead, the shades reside in the Abode of the Gods and are blessed with total inner peace. This comment should not be construed as a criticism of Krysanova, who gave a wonderful performance.

  • @palubob That would most likely be a director's decision, not hers. : )

  • @palubob

personally I don't think that not smiling would go with the tempo of the music x

  • nice to see someone squeeze out a triple at the end! Very nice :)

  • good job ...
