Whatever way you put it, Sam Cooke is possessed by some sort of spirit/energy that goes beyond an individual consciousness. I am agnostic, but when I see the source of word sound power before me, I acknowledge it, praise it, and pay enthusiastic tribute to it. This fellow was touched by something and was in a way extra human or more than human. That's why we love him. Besides his incredible voice, persona, and physical beauty, which are reason enough. He never loses his luster.

Anyone think aloe blacc could be a decent sam cooke in a bio? I think if he can act it'd work out i think. If you look up aloe black you can see Sam's swagger at live shows, obviously influenced by other things too but it's still there. He just needs to be able to act

the act of Sam coming out to the audience and some of them willing to stand and join him clapping was an example of what would brake the race barrier to interracial participation in live music shows. Looking Back, Music and live shows were an important element of the Civil Rights movement.

it's also amazing that he can sing so beautifully while the entire auditorium is clapping off-beat!

How can you think he had some sort of spirit possessing him and be agnostic?

Sam Cooke...yes, perfection. He is still relevant today (i.e.: Timberlake, Usher, Mars...). HOWEVER. Look at the audience he was singing to in this video. Totally white. At the end of the video, watch the sideways glances the girls give to their friends as they stand up to dance when he comes down to the first row. Awkward. Horrible. What a fantastically ballsy way to sing a Civil Rights song.

What I would give to know what he was thinking. An amazing man.

I believe this invisible force includes his ancestors. All that they could not express is bursting forth. But, he could control that force to make the beautiful sounds we continue to enjoy to this day.
