i can't fit enough in here to describe this horse. i started riding him in november 2006 and we could only walk trot for months, then we added a few jumps, and sometimes we could canter if we tricked him into the canter over a pole. any other way, he'd buck you off. and you couldn't touch his face or he'd take off and buck you off, no lie. after months of patient lessons (i bought him in may 2007 after lots of begging because i couldn't bear to see him sold - my trainer owned him before that), we were able to canter courses and we were champion or reserve almost every single show in 2008 in the baby greens, pre childrens hunter, and pre childrens eq. he basically always won the pleasure class. we planned to do the children's hunters and then the junior hunters for sure. i stopped riding him in november 2007 because he wasn't himself and continued to get worse. we did a major, expensive surgery for a neck compression (look up Seattle Slew for details, george's was the same) but sadly, he passed away in january 2008 due to complications.
i loved this horse more than i've ever loved another horse, and he will always be my favorite. i miss him more than anything. he taught me as much as i taught him and i'll never forget him. he was perfect. =)

-honors.

  • You absolutely were his hero......

  • hey chelsea its lindsay i know that george passed away in 08 but i sorry to here that your favorite passed and if anything were to happen to one of my horses (if i ever get one) i would die. and you know how that feels. and i dont know if i will ever have that happen to me. but im agian im sorry to hear about him !

  • we have no clue, we got him from someone who was just trying to get rid of him and probably got him from some auction in the first place. we thought he was a thoroughbred at first because of the way he took off. then we thought he was a quarter horse because he went with his nose on the ground and when he got fat he kinda looked like one. then the vet told us there's no way he was full QH, so we're thinking he was an appendix. lol everyone thought he was a warmblood though by the summer. :)
