Both civil relationships and challenges at work can create flow experience, which of course makes people happy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_%28psychology%29

Jeremy Rifkin, the founder and president of the Foundation on Economic Trends (FOET), is an American economist, writer, and public speaker. He is an activist who seeks to shape public policy in the United States and globally.

He has testified before numerous congressional committees and has engaged in litigation extensively to ensure "responsible" government policies on a variety of environmental, scientific and technology related issues. Since 1994, Rifkin has been a fellow at the Wharton School's Executive Education Program, lecturing CEOs and senior corporate management from around the world on new trends in science and technology.

  • @t8114jg I need to translate, I guess. This "king of gobily goop " says that both corporations and corporation-sponsored government should step aside and let us live our lives as we see fit.

  • Absolutely brilliant, this guy knows!

  • @t8114jg:

    "gob·ble·de·gook noun

language characterized by circumlocution and jargon, usually hard to understand: the gobbledegook of government reports."

    ~ dictionary online

In some ways, I'm inclined to agree.

Based on what I've thus far seen of Rifkin, he appears to get a few trees, but is missing parts of the forest.

Perhaps his characteristic suits & ties make some think he gets more than he actually does. ;)

  • Rifkin seems to be attempting to redefine culture early in his speech. Culture includes commercial/corporate and gov't-- UNFORTUNATELY these days.

    def. ex.:

    6. Anthropology . the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.

  • This woman was 100% right.

  • This guy is the king of, " gobily goop ". He sounds so brilliant because no one really can understand what he is talking about. It is all about these things like hope and change. He is talking about some radical changes and how much better things would be if he were in charge of making our decisions for us. How is the hope and change of Obama's working for you? I would like for these, "know it all people" to step aside and let us live our lives as we see fit.
