Her Majesty The Queen at the opening ceremony for the Ordnance Survey new headquarters building on 1 May 1969. This was shot on a cine camera so there is no sound. I have added some contemporary music.
The new HQ, in Southampton, brought all Ordnance Survey's operations under one roof after being dispersed around the South East of England following World War II. The building was originally designed for drawing and printing maps but physical production activities have dwindled in recent years due to the march of new technology.
