My favorite Chinese Weightlifter Lu Xiaojun

The Chinese Coaches take a big gamble and Lu Xiaojun attempts to break his record with 175kg snatch but misses leaving him 3 kg behind at the end of the snatch session. Hits 200kg &J on first attempt and waits for Tigran to attempt and miss 205 kg and is forced to attempt 206 kg C&J, 3kg more than needed to win. Incredibly the snatch and total world record holder misses both attempts and takes the silver overall. Post Interview included.

Snatch 165, 170, 175x WR attempt
C&J 200, 206x, 206x
Total 370kg

  • I expect he will try and redeem himself and attend the Asian Games in November which is in home territory and will probably try to break the record again with 175 kg for his 2nd and 3rd attempt since he will have less competition to worry about.

  • @tldevilsh lol no kidding, best view IMO is the side view, so you can see the bar path

  • @Doncanutcho People who power or squat jerk typically are very squat dominate overall, so the motion is not difficult on their legs.

  • @Doncanutcho It's called a squat jerk and some chinese lifters aim at it. They don't power jerk because it doesn't allow mistakes with bar path/stability. Like in the snatch, they can stabilize the bar on the way down. Overhead squatting with c&j weights is no problem for them since they squat very heavy anyway

  • I wonder why he favors a power jerk and doesnt split jerk, as u see around 6:00 only a tiny bit too low turns the jerk into an overhead squat which is impossible with these weights in my book (the term "impossible" doenst apply to these guys anyway)

  • @powmongo maybe the coaches knew he could left the wieght in training maybe..but yea i duno.

  • 5'7.75

  • How tall is he?

  • @canelifter111 No doubt. In the 2009 worlds he was flawless and so full of energy. That was one of the best performances I have ever seen from anyone period.
