  • I saw the Eclection several times at the Mothers Club in Erdington, Birmingham. They were regulars along with Fairport Convention. They had a unique sound best experienced live. They were not dissimilar to Fairport Covnention in their Judy Dyble days. Their lead singer Kerrilee Male was marvellous. As far as I know, this group made only one album then split up never to be heard from again.

  • God, Mothers Club. I went there once. Don't know why, I lived in North London, The Brian Auger Trinity were playing, and I'm was never really into them. Oh the days of cheerful insanity.

  • HOLY CRAP!!! You really can find any song on YouTube! We had this album when I was just a kid in Dallas in the early 70's. I always loved her? voice and just the whole psychedelia sound of this song. I could have sworn, however, that the band was called "Election". No clue. Thanks for posting! God Bless Y'all from Texas!

  • Glad to bring the memories back for you. It is a good LP. Is also out on CD now.

  • Eclection were written into a TV play ( one of the "Play for Today" or "Armchair Theatre" series?)

Is "Eclection" Michael Rosen he of the current BBC R4 "Word of Mouth", I wonder? I once emailed him this question but got no response. Guess he's a busy man!

  • The Michael Rosen in Eclection was Canadian I think. The 'Word of Mouth' one was born in Harrow.

A few groups appeared in BBC plays. Paper Blitz Tissue appeared in a Wednesday Play as the Majors.

Eclection also appeared on a BBC live show. Can't remember what the series was called, but they performed for about half an hour. Spooky Tooth appeared in the same series. WOuld love to find copies of both shows.

  • I found the LP in a thrift store bin in Canada 7 years ago. No one knew who they were, even at the used record store. lol great lp.

  • @hawkmoon03111951 Hi, everyone - a 'find' indeed. Remember hearing them on John Peel's Sunday show. Loved -- still love Kerrilee's voice. It prob'ly helped turn me from a boy to a man!! I think those shows were called 'Colour me Pop' ... get the band in the studio - no gimmicks - just air time and great music - Chicken Shack did a set too if I recall correctly

  • Yes, I have the Collectors Choice CD, and that weird warbling noise on the quiet bits is very, very annoying.

  • i have this on LP

  • was because of Georg Kajanus I ran across this unique band.

Kajanus was at his best in Sailor....

  • I found this album in a record collection I bought. Had never heard of Eclection prior, now one of my fav 60s folk-rock albums!

  • I saw this band at the Kings Head Romford in 1968 and they were very impressive, particularly the red headed guy who claimed to have written Both Sides Now! But I will remember forever a black singer called Doris Henderson who sang a number called Put on Your Face, I think it was her own composition. I found out recently that she had died and that all these years she'd been living and singing in London and I never knew! If anyone has any of her recordings please let me know! Alan Elliott ...

  • wow cool, never heard of these before, think i'll have to have a gander at more stuff........

  • gerry conway & trevor lucas both future fairport &fortheringay
